Osteoarticular regenerative
medicine

Regenerative medicine is an area in which we work at Aliviam and it can be curative or preventative. Its aim is to stimulate the natural processes of tissue repair in order to slow down degenerative phenomena or prevent the consequences of musculoskeletal ageing.

At Aliviam we work in 2 specific areas, with biological and natural products. The ultimate goal of Regenerative Medicine is to return damaged cells and tissues to their normal habitat, stimulate the immune system and restore an adequate nutritional substrate. To achieve this, at Aliviam Mallorca we use the most advanced technology in the field of osteoarticular degenerative pathology:

– Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

– Joint viscosupplementation

Platelet-rich plasma infiltration (PRP)

Aliviam is the reference in Majorca for Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) infiltration. A plasma fraction with a high number of platelets is obtained from a patient’s blood sample, which is introduced into a centrifugation process, and is then infiltrated into the injured tissue: a tendon, muscle, ligament or joint. It is an innovative and ever-evolving pain management technique that aims to control inflammation and promote cell regeneration. Platelet-rich plasma infiltration, which we perform at Aliviam Mallorca, is a minimally invasive process that is performed on an outpatient basis and takes a short time. It has no side effects and does not cause allergies. With our plasma purification equipment, we obtain a product of the highest quality, with a high concentration of platelets and without contamination from other blood cells. Its indications and effectiveness are constantly being studied.

Joint visco-supplementation

At Aliviam we specialise in joint viscosupplementation in Majorca, a treatment that consists of the infiltration of hyaluronic acid to reduce joint pain and improve the functional and mechanical condition of the osteoarthritic joint and in particular the knee. Hyaluronic acid is a viscous and elastic substance normally produced by the meniscus of the joint itself. When the degenerative joint symptoms of aging begin, the joint fluid loses hyaluronic acid, making the cartilage more susceptible to frictional and compressive forces.

Hyaluronic acid injections have an effect that can last up to 6 months. As a preventive measure, some scientific studies suggest that joint viscosupplementation may slow the progression of osteoarthritis.
